FORT LAUDERDALE HISTORY CENTER

  • Located on the New River, the Fort Lauderdale History Center tells the story of the community’s history from the Pioneers of Fort Lauderdale to the present day through its four historic structures: 1905 New River Inn, which houses the Museum of History and was the first building in Broward County to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places; the 1905 Philemon Bryan House, a four-square Vernacular style house.

GIRLS' CLUB

  • Founded in 2006 by artist Francie Bishop Good and her husband David Horvitz, Girls' Club is the only private collection in the world dedicated to exhibiting contemporary art by women. Cutting edge works in painting, drawing, photography and video are presented in curated, thematic exhibitions and are generally on view for a full year. Girls' Club also presents lectures, artist series, and workshops throughout the year. The current exhibition, “Under the Influence” features works by more than sixty local, national and international contemporary artists. Girls' Club is free and open to the public Wed, from 1-5pm and other times by appointment.

IGFA FISHING HALL OF FAME & MUSEUM

SEMINOLE TRIBE OF FLORIDA

STONEWALL LIBRARY & GLBT ARCHIVES

  • Cultural and educational resource that preserves, interprets and shares the heritage of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Serving as an epicenter of enlightenment to build bridges of cultural understanding in the LGBT community and beyond. From its founding in 1973, the Stonewall Library & Archives has grown into the largest lending library of its kind in the US, with more than 18,000 books and audio-visual materials. Archives contains more than 5,000 items including periodicals, oral history collections, business and association records, and more.

STRANAHAN HOUSE

  • The historic Stranahan House was built in 1901 by Frank Stranahan, the father of Fort Laurderdale and his wife, Ivy Cromartie Stranahan, the town's first school teacher. The building has served as a trading post, community center, post office, bank and home to the Stranahans. In 1984, the house was restored to the original configuration of the early 1900s and opened up as an historic house museum listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
