Jan 3: Resolved - Eat More
I've never been real big on New Year's resolutions. I have my own personal mental list of important ongoing goals and it seems more than enough work tackling those each day.

But I'
m making an exception this year because -- well, mostly because these are resolutions any real South Florida resident can warm up to. So, for whatever they may be worth (and that may not be much, admittedly!) -- this list of 2006 Resolutions now, submitted for your consideration and comment.

Eat More! Too many fine restaurants totally escaped my attention in 2005. The county is full of them and I keep hearing rave reviews from friends. But have I actually gone there and spent my money? No, not often enough, at least not outside my list of regular stops. I'll do better this year. Johnny V's, here I come!

Drink More! (Are we sensing a theme here?) But sorry, it's true. As with restaurants, so it is with bars and clubs for me. They beckon, I refuse. Not that I don'
t love to party or carouse or generally do things that require taxi rides home. I do. But I haven't done enough of it the past 12 months. Look for me at the next bar stool starting...hm, tonight maybe?

Spend More! I have to stop this frugality that characterized so much of 2005. I suppose frugality is not the right word. Uhm, maybe lack of money is the appropriate phrase here. Hey, I'm a fulltime writer -- what do you expect? Still, there's nothing wrong with some deficit spending now and then. Just ask the people who run our federal government! So yes, more plastic charges in 2006...unless I can find a generous friend who wants to eat and drink more too!

Laugh More! As I see it, eating more, drinking more and spending more should lead to...yep, laughing more! And that can only be good. But, as the comics say, seriously now folks -- I don't just mean going to the Improv at Hard Rock or some other local comedy club. I'm talking about getting out and enjoying, even if that doesn't mean drinking, eating or spending. This might be hard to believe but only yesterday I walked the beach from Hollywood to Dania -- no drinking, eating or spending involved. But it was fun. And my date and I had many laughs!

So there ya have it: A list of 2006 resolutions anyone could love. Get back to me in six months and see how I'm doing! I'll let you know, assuming I can both stand up and stop laughing.
