Created by the Board of Broward County Commissioners in 1987, the Greater
Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau (GFLCVB) is a governmental
agency funded by a portion of the five percent (as of July 1, 1996) tax
on hotel rooms. The 38-member staff of the GFLCVB promotes the Greater Fort
Lauderdale area as a premier year-round leisure and meeting destination.

The Communications Division helps generate positive media coverage for Greater Fort Lauderdale by arranging media tours, creating news releases and a wide range of publications including the Vacation Planner, Visitors Map & EventsCalendar, Superior Small Lodging Directory, Meeting Planners Guide, CVBuzz e-newsletter and more. The department oversees the ongoing development of the www.sunny.org website plus the creation, production and placement of the destination's tourism advertising, and is also responsible for an extensive audio visual library and community outreach. |
