6. Getting into the film and television industry:

Contact local production managers, coordinators, art directors, best boys, etc. depending on your area of expertise.

Entry Level Crew: The key to working steadily in the film and television freelance industry is to network and become known as a dedicated and conscientious crew member. Word of mouth travels fast in the industry, so it is imperative that your first impression is the best. Volunteering may be your only option at first, but it is a great way to get a start.

Read everything you can get your hands on about the industry and your area of specialization. The Broward County Library is a good place to start. You can also contact the Samuel French Bookstore in Los Angeles for a catalogue. They have a most extensive library of film and television resource books.
