Ok, so here we are at Boomers, right? Remember? If you missed my blog last week, well, it’s right below this one. Maybe you should read it first. If you want to. Because I was blogging about my big double date with my best friend, Juliette, and the hot twin boys, Jensen and Jason. Anyway, we were all at Boomers in Dania Beach. It’s this amusement park with a huge old roller coaster and amazing things like go karts and everything else.
So now Jason wants to drive the go karts. We each go climbing into our own car. Totally cool! I can’t wait until I can drive for real! It’ll be so great! Anyway, we hit the gas pedals in our four cars and go racing off. Dorky old me, ya know what I did first? I ran into the back of Juliette’s car! Hard! But she just laughed it off. The twins thought it was cute, I guess. They laughed too.
Now Juliette and I have to hurry to catch up. The guys are already flying at top speeds around corners. These guys drive like NASCAR racers! But they looked back and I guess they felt sorry for us. Because they slowed down to let us drive up close to them. Then we all four start racing! Seriously racing! VRRROOOOM!
Wow! Turning the wheel around tight corners! Stepping down hard on the gas! Moving as fast as the wind! My long hair’s blowing into my eyes and sometimes I can hardly see. The engines are roaring and the boys are fighting it out. I mean, each brother wants to beat the other one across the finish line. After a few times around this wild track, Jason blasts past Jensen. Jason is Juliette’s date. So I thought I should say something, right? Just so Jensen knows I don’t care who won anyway.
So I shout, “I’ll go out with the losing driver anytime!” I’m smiling while shouting this over the loud engines. Trying to be nice. So of course, right then everything goes all quiet. I guess the go kart worker guys turned off some engines. And now I‘m shouting loud enough for everyone at Boomers to hear me! EMBARRASSED!!!! I wanted to crawl in some hole. Luckily, Jensen knew I was joking. He didn’t take it the wrong way. But talk about feeling dorky!!
But like Juliette told me, “Everybody feels dorky sometimes! Don’t worry about it!” So I got over that pretty fast. Because we went to the batting cages next and had fun. Juliette and I watched as the twins whacked ball after ball. They were trying to show off, I think. I totally made sure Jensen knew how good he hits a baseball! Then after that, we walked over to the bumper boats. They were as much fun as the cars. Floating around, thumping into each other. Every boat has its own water cannon and I soaked Jensen bigtime! Too much fun!
I don’t have room in this blog to tell you about the incredible gameroom at Boomers. Next week I’ll finish this story and write all about that. It’s so totally virtual world in there. But my date with Jensen was real! Even if I acted dorky sometimes. I don’t care. Because I’m still smiling when I think about my big Boomers afternoon!!
“Have a blast!” That’s what my father said when he dropped us off today at Boomers. A “blast?” That sounds, like, SO ancient or something! Just the kinda stuff dads like to say. I know he was just trying to be nice. But I was on a date with an older guy. And I’m thinking, “DAD! Have a ‘blast’??!” I didn’t want Jensen to think I was a total loser.
But you know what? I did have a “blast” at Boomers today! That’s the really funny part of it. Too much happened to tell you all the good stuff in just one blog. So I’m going to write about my “Boomers blast” over the next couple weeks. It’s so worth going to this place! I want you to know all about it so maybe you can go there too. Even if you have to go with your parents or with a brother or somebody else you’re stuck with.
I don’t even know where to start my story. It was that much fun! So, well, I guess I should start after Dad dropped us off, ok? I’m with Jensen, one of the twin boys in our school. You remember the twins from last week, right? Remember, we went on a kayak trip and all that? So anyway, today Jensen takes me to Boomers and pays for everything! His brother, Jason, did the same thing with my best friend, Juliette. Was that so cool of them?
So it’s like a double date, really – just the four of us. I didn’t really care where we went with Jensen and Jason. They’re almost 15 and know their way around pretty good. But Boomers is so totally, totally awesome! Great date place! It has a huge wooden roller coaster and that’s the first thing the twins wanted to ride. Of course! Guys! But Juliette was like, “Hmm, I dunno! I’ve never been on one of these things!” I hadn’t either, to tell you the truth. But I acted real brave and pretty soon all four of us climbed into one car. The FRONT car! Gulp!!!
The car starts climbing, climbing, climbing up the first hill. Really, really slow, so it scares you so much. You’re just wondering what’s going to happen when you get to the top and start racing down! I’ll tell you what happens – you drop FAST! Whoa!! You go 55 miles an hour in this roller coaster. Which is fast when you’re falling almost straight down! At least it feels straight down.
But it’s so great too! Up and down hills, sitting way up in the air on just some thin metal tracks. You go racing and tearing around corners and flying down big dips, over and over. I think Juliette was a little scared. I was too, really. But we all four had lots of laughs and fun!! Then after that Jason says, “I know! Let’s go ride the go karts!” And we did. And we also did the bumper boats and batting cages and game room and – I’ll tell you more about my Boomers visit next week. But you just gotta go to this place yourself. Because you know what? You’ll definitely “have a blast!”
The things a girl will do for a guy! Nothing like paddling my arms off all afternoon in a kayak, right? I know, I know. You guys out there are saying, “We do all kinds of things for you girls too!” I guess that’s just the way it goes sometimes. But I can’t remember ever working so hard for a guy as I did on that kayak adventure last week. Remember, I told you about how my friend, Juliette, and I went to Fort Lauderdale beach? And how we ran into Jensen and Jason, the hot twins in our school? So when they invited us to go out paddling around the ocean with them, we both felt like, “Wow!”
Let me just tell you one thing right now – your arms work hard in a kayak. These things are small, pointy boats, kinda like canoes with rounder bottoms. They tip over really easy. As I found out! So anyway, Juliette and I are all excited to climb into these two kayaks with the twins. These dudes are SO totally gorgeous! You can’t even tell them apart – dark hair, big muscles, great smiles. Sigh. You get the idea.
So now we’re in the kayaks, sitting in front of the guys. I’m with Jensen. Juliette’s with Jason. And we’re sort of giggling to each other, but trying to hide it from the boys. We don’t want them to think we’re little kids or something. Because, well, they are a couple years older than us. So we want to act cool and mature, right?
Now we push into the ocean in our kayaks and, whoa – it’s like really hard to paddle these things against the waves! I guess it was easy enough for the twins. Maybe they just pretended it was easy. Juliette and I kept looking at each other like, “Is this the hardest thing you’ve done in your whole life??!” But once we got out farther in the water, it was really fun too. We went up and down, paddling along the whole beautiful Fort Lauderdale beach. The sun was shining and everything on shore looked amazing. I love this beach so much! So now I’m busy looking at some pelican flying over our heads and then it’s like – WOOP! Just that quick! I tipped the kayak over and fell in the ocean with Jensen! Juliette and Jason were laughing so hard at us. I guess it was pretty funny.
So we finally climb back into this tippy kayak and paddle back to shore. And Juliette’s still laughing. And all Jensen says to me is, “I’m really glad we ran into you girls today!” Just like that. And Jason says, “Yeah, it was great!” So Juliette and I KNEW they wanted to see us again. It all turned into this unbelievable day at the beach. Even if I can’t stop thinking about how dorky I was to tip over that kayak. But I guess Jensen didn’t mind. Because guess what? Next week, the twins are taking Juliette and me to this cool place called Boomers. It’s got a great roller coaster and bumper boats and stuff like that. Dad says it’s ok – he’ll drive us both ways. Is that totally awesome or what? I’m really starting to love living in Fort Lauderdale. A LOT! See ya next week!
It’s me, Isabella. I’m back! But I have to admit, Spencer was pretty good with his blogs last week. Maybe I’ll let him write sometimes. Maybe Juliette too. But now I’m back writing the blog, ok? Just so you know it’s me again. Except first, I’m sorry about last week. I mean, sorry if I made you worry or anything about me. It was all just a joke! Not a very good joke, I guess. I thought it would be really funny to have some stranger tell Juliette, “Meet your friend at Beach Place!” Maybe kinda scary like in some movie.
That started the whole stupid thing. I really waited for Juliette at Beach Place, but she was late. So I got tired of waiting and that’s when I thought I should go home. Except I didn’t go home. And you know why? Because the Fort Lauderdale beach is SO totally beautiful! It was my first time there alone. Remember, I just moved to Fort Lauderdale. And I AM almost 13 years-old, so I can do stuff alone sometimes, right? So I put on tons of sunscreen and I walked to the beach across from some big new hotel. I just spread out my towel and laid there a long time.
Like, way too long! So then Juliette starts calling my house because I didn’t hear my cell phone ring on the beach. And Spencer is looking everywhere for me. And my dad gets worried. When I got home, he was really really mad! He grounded me for three whole days! I couldn’t go anywhere or even have one friend over. What a seriously totally boring three days! I didn’t even have school to get me outside!
But today I’m free again! I feel almost like some person who got out of jail. So guess what? I went back to the beach! This time I really did go with Juliette, just the two of us this time. The beach was so beautiful! The sun was shining bright. And the sea was all green and looked like it was inviting us to take a swim! And there were lots of cute guys and girls. I love the beach! So Juliette and I just laid in the sunshine for a while.
Then we took a walk way down the beach. That was when we ran into Jensen and Jason. They’re twins, older than us. Almost 15, so I mean they almost can drive and everything already. And they’re like two of the most totally hot guys in our school. And you know what happened? They said they had two kayaks on the beach and we could ride with them! A kayak is like a canoe, kind of. So Juliette and I were trying to act cool and we just said, “Well, I guess it’s ok.” But inside, we’re both feeling like, “YESSSS!” So next week, I’ll tell you about our kayak trip. Because I think Jensen likes me, even though he’s older. And Jason seems to like Juliette too. Let’s just say it was a fun afternoon at the beach! See ya then!
Wow, Isabella is back home now so don’t be scared. But I was real scared for maybe an hour. Maybe two hours. But I’m not now. I’m glad I didn’t do what she did! Isabella is in trouble.
So I'm writing her blog again. Then you will know Isabella is ok and not hurt or anything. Here’s what Isabella did. Cause her dad is angry and she’s in big trouble.
Isabella didn’t go home like she told that guy. Remember? She just went to lay out on the beach. It was a very nice day and sunny too. Remember that? Then she fell asleep on the beach and it was late. But she wasn’t home. Isabella says she is very sorry! She won’t ever do that again. And she will be back to write a new blog next week. Ok? So don’t be scared. I’m not scared anymore. Isabella is ok. Wow, that was too scary for me! I’m glad Isabella is ok! Goodbye and thanks again!!
Hi! I’m Spencer. But this is Isabella’s blog. My sister Juliette told me to write the blog this week. Cause maybe someone will know where to find Isabella. I hope so! Juliette says she can’t write Isabella’s blog. She’s too busy looking for Isabella. I’m almost 11. In school my teacher says I write things pretty good. But I just hope we find Isabella! I’m scared!
So this is what happens today. I’m home with my sister Juliette. And then my sister’s cellphone gets a text message. It’s from Isabella. It says, “Hi J! Mt me @ FTL bch. Las Olas. 2pm. K?” So then my sister texts her back. She says ok. So then my sister walks to meet Isabella at the Fort Lauderdale beach. She walks to the street called Las Olas. She says I can come too. So I go with Juliette to the beach. Except then this is what happens. We can’t find Isabella!
Then my sister Juliette says, “This is so weird! Isabella wouldn’t text me then not come. Weird!” I don’t remember everything she says. So then she texts Isabella again. But Isabella doesn’t text back.
The beach is real pretty and it’s sunny weather and I see people every place. Everybody’s having fun. Except me. And Juliette. Because then this guy we don’t know looks at us. Then he says “You kids looking for a pretty little girl? Isabella’s her name.” And we say where’s Isabella? So then this guy says she’s at Beach Place. Isabella told him to tell us, ok?
So then we walk to Beach Place. It’s this cool shopping place on the beach. You see the ocean from the stores. And you can eat there too. That’s why it’s called Beach Place. But we get there and we can’t find Isabella any place. We look inside every store. We can’t find Isabella anyway. So this makes me scared. And my sister Juliette too. Real scared.
Then this other guy at Beach Place looks at us. And he says, “Hey, are you Juliette?” We don’t know him either. And then he says, “Your friend says she can’t wait for you. She went home. Says don’t worry about her!” But then Isabella isn’t really home! So now her dad’s scared too. So my sister and her dad are walking around the beach looking for Isabella. So if you know where Isabella is, please tell us. Ok? Just email or something, please! Cause maybe Isabella is missing or lost at sea or something. I’m so scared! We need help so maybe Isabella can write her blog next week herself.
