Aug 31: One Last Blog
Ok, well, I guess this is it, blog fans. Wow, I’m just so busy at school this year! I can’t believe how much homework I have every night! Maybe it’s because I’m 13 now. I guess they expect more of a teenager at school, right?

Anyway, this is my last blog. I hate to stop writing these every week. I hope you hate to see them end! It’s been fun though, hasn’t it? Think of all the places we’ve gone together since April!!

Remember that first big incredible trip? We went to the Everglades. I want to go back there. Like, REALLY soon!! But I don’t want another close encounter with an alligator. You remember that, right? I almost fell out of that airboat thingie and got eaten alive by a huge gator!! Wow, that was a close one. You can read about that just by scrolling to the bottom of this blog, if you want.

And then there was that time at Butterfly World. Another super cool place in Fort Lauderdale! My best friend, Juliette, and her dorky younger brother, Spencer, and me. My dad dropped us off and we saw the most amazing butterflies and birds and stuff. We all loved it! I hope you loved reading about it. The stories about Butterfly World are on this blog too. Just scroll down to find them, ok?

So, ok. What else did I write about this summer? Paddling a kayak in the ocean. And seeing all those amazing monkeys at the Bonnet House. And riding the roller coaster at Boomers. And shopping on Las Olas. And swimming in a huge hotel swimming pool, with waiters who bring food right to your deck chair. And … Well, I guess I can’t leave out the twins, right? Remember Jensen and Jason? They ARE both so totally cute. We had some fun. Until Jensen got, like, all stuck up. I mean, who needs to be with someone like that? I wish he could just be himself around me, instead of acting all cool and handsome all the time!

Anyway, it was a great summer! The best in my whole life!! And after 13 summers in my life already, I’ve seen a lot of them, right? So I guess I’d have to say this must have been some totally awesome summer, huh? I have to thank my dad for that. He’s so great! He takes me places and is so cool about everything. Of course, I’ve gotta thank my great best friend, Juliette, who’s so gorgeous and so fun!! Even her little brother, Spencer, is kinda ok, when he’s not being dorky.

But I guess most of all, I should thank this place I live now. Fort Lauderdale! I’m so glad Dad moved us here six months ago!! It’s the most incredible awesome place I’ve ever been!! Or whatever you can say that means “totally great!” It’s sunny all the time and there’s a beautiful blue ocean and amazing beach. There are so many things to do – I’ve hardly even started to see and do them all yet. And who knows? Maybe sometime I’ll be able to write another blog for you. Hope so!!

Until then, this is Isabella saying bye for now!! I hope you have a chance to see the places I visited! And lots of other places too! You can always come back to this blog and read my stories. Anytime you want. Maybe you can start your own blog and I’ll read all about the places you go, ok? I’d really like that!! Goodbye, blog friends!! I’ll miss you!! A lot!!!!

Aug 24: A Hollywood Star
I guess I’m, like, a Hollywood star or something now. It’s me, Isabella. Your blogger friend! Juliette isn’t here so I’m writing this blog by myself. I’m going to tell you about my first adventure in Hollywood. No, really! I’m not joking! I sang and danced in Hollywood. So that makes me a star, I guess, right?

Hollywood, Florida, that is. Hahaha!! I didn’t even know there is a Hollywood here. But there is – near Fort Lauderdale where I live. So my dad took me there last night for dinner. Just the two of us. That was nice! I love my dad! Even though he makes me do chores I don’t want to do sometimes.

Anyway, he got home from work when I was still studying history. I’m back in school, as you know! Because you’re probably all back in school too! So then Dad suddenly says to me, “Wanna go out to dinner? Let’s eat on the beach!” And I’m like, “Cool! Let’s go!” So we hop in the car and drive to Hollywood beach. They have this long, long walk there called the Broadwalk. No, not boardwalk. It’s a Broadwalk! They have restaurants and stores and fun things to do everywhere there.

Like there’s a place to rent bikes. And there’s this big stage where bands play for free sometimes. You just sit down anywhere and listen as long as you want. I think that’s totally cool! And the Broadwalk is so near the water, so you hear the ocean and smell it at the same time you see it.

So then I spot this little Italian restaurant selling pizza and I’m like, “Daaaad! Pizza! Let’s eat here, ok?” He just smiles and walks inside. But really we end up outside, sitting by the sea. Where we could see it and smell it and hear it, like I said. Awesome!! What a way to eat dinner, sitting by the surf, ya know?

So you’re wondering about this “Hollywood star” thing, right? Because that’s what I said. Ok, here’s what happened. There’s this cute dude playing his guitar on the Broadwalk. Just singing and strumming away so nice. I think he’s Latin, like from Colombia or Brazil or somewhere, with great dark eyes and dark skin. Totally handsome, girls! Anyway, so Dad and I stop to listen. And I start moving to his music and he smiles at me. So now I get into it. I’m really dancing to this song, whatever it was. I didn’t know the music. And he’s laughing and Dad’s laughing and I’m laughing too! So, see? I danced in Hollywood, like I said!

Oh yeah, and the singing? That came later. We’re walking back to the car and I’m singing that song. You know, the guitar player’s song, right? Well, I’m trying to sing it. I mean, I didn’t know the words or anything. But Dad hears me. And so he says, “Now you can say you’re a real star, Isabella!” And I’m like, “Huh? What are you talking about?”

And Dad says, “Well, you’re in Hollywood! And you’re singing and dancing here, right?” So I laugh but I have to admit – he IS right! So there’s my big story about being a star. Except no one is following me around to take my pictures all the time. And nobody has asked for my autograph. Yet. Wow, I wonder why not???! Hahaha!! See ya next week!!!

Aug 17: Chews and Choos
No, I’m not talking baby talk about the train or something. Like, the “choo-choo.” I’m talking about something else in this new blog, right? Because first Juliette and I went to chew. Then we – well, we went for Choos! Kind of. You’ll see what I mean. Luckily, Juliette is back this week!! She can help me finish telling you all about our big shopping trip.

Juliette: Hi ya, blog lovers! So ok, I’ll help Isabella finish our story. Like she needs help. As if!! She’s so good at blogging!! Anyway, where was I? I forgot. Here, you write something first, Isabella.

Isabella: Ok, I’ll start the blog. Because we just finished buying our clothes. Remember? Juliette’s tight jeans! Wow! She looks totally hot! And my white shorts and bikini too.

Juliette: Ok, thanks for starting. But you should see Isabella in that awesome bikini! I hope Jensen sees her on the beach! So anyway, then we went for lunch. We grabbed our shopping bags and walked down Las Olas. We sat outside at our own table. Like my parents do sometimes. So totally cool without adults!

Isabella: Totally, totally cool. Even if it was totally hot! Outside. Haha! But we didn’t care, right Juliette? We felt the breeze racing down Las Olas. And the restaurant had ceiling fans and everything. So we ordered lunch and I ate a hamburger. MMM, it was so good! And Juliette had – what’d you have again?

Juliette: I had a tuna salad, remember? We both had lemonade. So delicious too! We just talked and laughed. And ate. Nobody bothered us. The waiter was really nice. Cute too!! But too old for us, teehee. Then we went shopping again! Right, Isabella?

Isabella: Right!! For shoes!! Our parents gave us money to shop. Really, we were supposed to just buy some new clothes for school. Because we go back to school next week. Yuck! It’s been a great summer!!

Juliette: Yuck, yuck!! Hahaha!!

Isabella: But I really needed to buy those new shorts. And the swimsuit too. Even if they’re not for school. Just like I told you, Dad! Las Olas is this super cool shopping street. So many great stores there. With lots of hot clothes and shoes and things. So then after lunch we both tried on shoes made by Jimmy Choo!!! We hadn’t heard of him. Or his shoes.

Juliette: But those shoes are so totally hot! We had to try them on, right Isabella? But our parents would kill us if we bought those!! So we both bought some pretty flip-flops. We can wear those to school. But those way tall Choos were so awesome, Isabella!!

Isabella: For sure!! Oh well. We still got some great things. So then we finished shopping and looking and walking around Las Olas. I think we stayed until almost 5, right? Yeah, Juliette says we left after 5 o’clock. We took the bus home. And we had the best time ever!!

Juliette: The best!!!

Isabella: Just shopping and eating alone. No parents. And no Spencer!! Hahaha! Sorry, Juliette – you know I’m joking about your brother, right? So next week we’re back in school. But I’m still going to have fun around Fort Lauderdale. And I’ll be back to tell you all about it. Bye for now, from Isabella. And Juliette!!!

Juliette: BYE EVERYBODY!!!

Aug 10: Shopping without Dropping
I can’t believe it’s almost time for school again! Is this summer over already? No, not over yet. There’s still time for fun. And I’m going to have more fun too! With my best girlfriend. Because ya know what? I saw Jensen at the beach last week. You remember the twins – Jensen and Jason, right? But he wasn’t that nice to me now and I don’t even care! I’m so totally over him!! Too stuck up for me. So Juliette and I did the best thing to forget all about the twins. We went shopping!!

On Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale. All alone. It was the coolest thing. The two of us with these big shopping bags. Like we were super rich ladies or something! So I want to tell you about – oh wait. Juliette is here at my house. And she wants to help me write this blog. That’ll be fun for a change!! So here goes. We’ll take turns, ok?

Juliette: I’ve never done this. But I just wanna say how awesome Isabella’s blog is!! Don’t you think so? Isabella’s a really good writer. But I’ll try to help her today. We had so much fun today!! We laughed so much all day. Right, Isabella?

Isabella: Ok, it’s me again. I just want to say it’s totally awesome having a friend like Juliette too! She’s the best!! I’m so lucky! So there we were this afternoon – taking the bus to Las Olas. Our parents said it was ok and they gave us some money. So the first thing we did is – guess what? We bought ice cream!! YAY! Tell them about it, Juliette!

Juliette: Ok, here goes. I don’t write as good as Isabella. Anyway, we stopped at Kilwin’s on Las Olas. This great, GREAT ice cream place! I had mint chocolate chip!! She had – uhm, what did you have? Duh, I forgot!

Isabella: I had their great chocolate!! Mmmmm! Then we went next door to this art gallery with big paintings of animals. Giraffes and lions and zebras. Juliette kept making me laugh!! I thought they were pretty paintings. But Juliette just –

Juliette: I’ll finish this story! SHE was making ME laugh!! Like this big hairy picture of a chimpanzee. She said he looked like Jensen!!! You know you did that, Isabella!

Isabella: Hahahahaheehee!! Just kidding Jensen, if you’re reading this! Ok, maybe I did say that. But then we walked to another store with some great clothes, right Juliette??

Juliette: You’re just trying to change the subject!! Haha!! Yeah, we did find an awesome clothes store! I found the cutest pair of tight jeans. So of course I had to buy those, didn’t I?

Isabella: Of course!! What girl could resist? And I bought these white shorts and a great bikini for the beach! I needed another swimsuit. Remember, I haven’t lived in Fort Lauderdale too long yet! So I don’t have all the gorgeous Florida clothes, like Juliette!

Juliette: Give me a break! You’re so gorgeous in anything you wear, Isabella!

Isabella: I didn’t ask her to write that. Honest! Thanks, but you’re gorgeous too!! So anyway, we kept shopping for quite a while. But we didn’t “shop til you drop” like people joke about. Did we, Juliette? So next week, I’ll tell you some more about a couple awesome stores we went to, ok? If I’m lucky, maybe Juliette will come back and help me finish the story!! See ya back here then!! Bye for now, from both of us!!!!!!!!

Aug 3: Monkey See, Monkey Do
This is the best part of the story. Because the Bonnet House was crazy and cool, like I told you last week. And the fox and heron were totally interesting too. I told you about that two weeks ago, right? Now I want to blog about the funniest things that happened. Monkeys!

That’s right. As in, wild monkeys! Right here in Fort Lauderdale. Living up in the trees. Where else would monkeys live, I guess? Anyway, when I say monkeys live here, you’re probably thinking it’s like a zoo. Boring! No, it’s not a zoo. Not even close! These tiny, cute, cuddly little monkeys just swing around the trees and go wherever they want all day. They could leave the Bonnet House if they want to. Sometimes they do leave. But not for long. They like it here.

So now, remember Dad and Juliette and I are walking around that crazy house I told you about? And Juliette’s brother too. Spencer! Always making dorky eyes at me like he wants to marry me someday or whatever! As if! So we all finish walking around the house now. Then we start walking around the huge, huge gardens. It’s like a park, with a lake and paths and everything.

Then. Wait! Shhhh! Juliette sees something. And she stops walking and starts whispering. “Wow, wow! Look! Look!” And Spencer goes like, “Look at WHAT? WHERE??”

“There, there! THERE!” Juliette says. She’s pointing like mad at a tree. Then I see them. So tiny you almost can’t see them. Monkeys!! Probably like three dozen monkeys all together!! They’re hanging around a few trees maybe ten feet from us!! It’s hard to believe at first. But it’s real, in front of your eyes! Wild monkeys!!

One of the cutest ones is asleep on a tree branch. All curled up. So so adorable! And some other little guy hangs by his tail, looking straight at me! The four of us walk closer now. They let us walk totally close to them too! The monkeys aren’t scared or anything. Of course dorky Spencer wants to pet one but Dad says no. So we just watch. And giggle!

They’re so funny! This one monkey goes climbing way, way up high on a skinny tree branch, then jumps about 15 feet through the air to another tree. If he misses, he’ll fall all the way down to the ground! Then this other cute monkey is eating leaves off a tree. And another monkey comes down to a branch that’s almost touching Dad’s head. Dad doesn’t move and this monkey just watches him for a long time. And Dad watches the monkey back. So then Spencer says to Dad, “Maybe the monkey thinks you’re his father!” I have to admit, that sounded pretty funny at the time.

You probably can see these monkeys too if you go visit the Bonnet House. As your blogger friend here in Fort Lauderdale, I definitely recommend it! For sure! I’ve never seen any place like it before and I don’t think there is any place like it. It’s just like Fort Lauderdale that way. Really so unbelievable sometimes. Next week, I’ll tell you about some other cool place to go. I don’t know where yet but my next blog will have the whole fun story! I’ll see you back here then!!!
