Greater Fort Lauderdale Sweeps The Competition at the Flagler Awards

09/12/2013
GREATER FORT LAUDERDALE SWEEPS THE COMPETITION AT THE 14TH ANNUAL FLAGLER AWARDS DURING FLORIDA GOVERNOR'S CONFERENCE ON TOURISM

"HELLO SUNNY" CAMPAIGN AWARDED BEST OF SHOW

GREATER FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - September 12, 2013 - The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau received eight Flagler Awards last night, including Best of Show, as part of the 46th Annual Florida Governor's Conference on Tourism, Sept. 11-13, 2013 at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort in Orlando.

Taking center stage at the Flagler Awards was the introduction of the destination's new "Hello Sunny" international marketing campaign, receiving Best of Show and five Henry awards including Creativity in Public Relations, Tourism Advocacy, Niche Marketing, Resource/ Promotional Material, and Television Advertising.

Hello Sunny, an integrated global marketing initiative, brought Greater Fort Lauderdale's highly colorful and welcoming personality - lighthearted, carefree, active, vibrant, entertaining, water-centric and sunny - to the destination's key visitor markets in New York, London, and Chicago through a series of interactive "Goodbye Chilly. Hello Sunny" events. The event kicked off the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitor Bureau's wider international Hello Sunny marketing campaign, which outshone the competition at this year's awards.

No other destination has received as many Flagler awards in a single year, with the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau's haul of 11 awards this year breaking its own record of 10 awards in 2012 (seven gold including Best of Show, one silver and two bronze.)

"Not only did we say ‘Hello Sunny,' we also said ‘Hello' to new audiences thanks to these marketing endeavors which significantly increased our brand awareness and fun quotient," said Nicki E. Grossman, president of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau. "We are happy with the recognition of a great year of work by everyone within the CVB as well as the real impact that this marketing is having on our local tourism community".
