How do you get started?
- Start planning your family reunion as soon as possible. 18-24 months out is not too soon.
- Designate a lead person. This person is the level head and will be there from beginning to end, but not to do it all. This person must learn to delegate.
- Form planning committees with sub-committees. Get commitments in writing. Even if Uncle Al says he's taking pictures - get it in writing. Important Committees: Budget, Program, Correspondence and History Preservation.
- Set a reasonable date for your reunion. Consider weather, travel by other family members, scheduled local events and other family obligations.
- Plan activities for adults as well as children. Consider some "Old School," as well as "Hip Hop" and toddler activities. Think outside the box. In Greater Fort Lauderdale, only your imagination limits you.
- Always have a backup plan and another backup plan (Plans A, B & C). Plan A is what you want and plan to do. Plan B is what you might consider doing. Plan C is no other choice but to do.
