The name Trina is derived from Trinakria, a symbol of the three-legged medusa found on the flag of Sicily. The symbol represents the three seas that surround this regions centerpiece the Mediterranean, Ionian and Tyrrhenian each of which touch the exotic lands of which this culinary concept was inspired.
