On Thursday, July 18, the City of Fort Lauderdale had a break in a 42 inch water main line. A temporary patch to the broken water main has been implemented, and water service has been restored to much of the City. More information about the water main break impact to Broward County. 

  • Fort Lauderdale and the following cities and areas who receive water from Fort Lauderdale, are under a boil water order until further notice:
    • Lauderdale-By-The Sea
    • Oakland Park
    • Port Everglades
    • Sea Ranch Lakes
    • Wilton Manors
    • Portions of Davie
    • Portions of Tamarac
  • Broward County opened a distribution point for bottled water today in the Broward Municipal Services District.
  • Affected hotels, restaurants and businesses are starting to reopen.
  • Only some portions of Broward County were affected. Most areas in our destination are operating normally.
  • The GFLCVB is assisting and collaborating with industry partners to spread the word about the water main break and how visitors and businesses may be affected.
  • The water main break did not affect Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, which gets its water from the City of Hollywood.
  • Port Everglades has notified its customers of the water main break. Cruise ship passengers are encouraged to check with their cruise line for more information.  
  • Residents and businesses are being urged to monitor the County’s news resources for any additional impact to County services or facilities.
