With a total population of 744, Sea Ranch Lakes is a tiny residential village that embodies the feel of Old Florida, where everyone waves and smiles...and a new neighbor quickly becomes a welcome friend.
Stay secluded, yet centrally located
You won’t find any chains or tourist activities in Sea Ranch Lakes. But what you will find in abundance is a peaceful, quiet family community with a premiere location, bordered on the east by the Atlantic Ocean and on the west by the Intracoastal Waterway.
Since Sea Ranch Lakes Village is a private, gated community, there are no lodging properties available for visitors. But you can still enjoy a stay here by booking a vacation rental – a limited number of condo and home listings are available.
Right next door: retro Florida fun
Don’t miss a visit to Lauderdale-By-The-Sea (LBTS), a unique village right next door to Sea Ranch Lakes that’s a big departure from typical Fort Lauderdale beachside communities.
Here, low-rise buildings and mid-century style architecture create a warm, inviting small-town ambiance that’s quite unique. Stroll LBTS’s remodeled downtown by day or night – you’ll see all ages feeling safe and right at home here.
By day, it’s a charming little beach town. Not only is the 2.5 mile beach beautiful and unspoiled, but you can snorkel or dive right from shore. Recognized as “South Florida’s Beach Diving Capital,” the near-shore reefs are just 100 yards off the coastline. In fact, the 1900 SS Copenhagen steamship shipwreck is now the most-visited Underwater Archaeological Preserve in Florida, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
By night, LBTS sparkles with vibrant dining and entertainment. There’s an abundance of inviting seating and people-watching spots; delightful restaurant choices spanning aromatic pizza joints to elegant bistros with open-air patios; talented performers; and irresistible homemade ice cream parlors and gelato shoppes, virtually on every corner.
Visit oceanside El Prado Park: plenty of shade, chairs, picnic tables and a farmer’s market every Sunday (in season).
