Lively Libations in Greater Fort Lauderdale

By Christie Galeano-DeMott

It’s time to raise a glass—or pint or mug—to Greater Fort Lauderdale’s drink scene. With a collection of venues to celebrate life’s big and small moments, we have a plethora of refreshment options for everyone from the beer drinker and the wine enthusiast to the coffee fanatic.

For coffee drinkers, there are coffee shops with coworking spaces or spaces to simply enjoy a relaxing cup of joe. For beer drinkers, we have gastropubs serving tasty plates, sports bars with plenty of TVs to watch the big game, and breweries specializing in a variety of brews from IPAs to ciders. Wine fans have a slew of options for that perfect glass of wine from sophisticated and trendy bistros to casual and relaxing bars.

Whether you want to just relax with a pint or enjoy a more active afternoon while sipping on your beer, we have plenty of breweries here in Greater Fort Lauderdale.

LauderAle Brewing is a small brewery located near Port Everglades and the airport which features 30 rotating taps from red ales and fruit beer to sours and Belgian tripels. If you’re looking for an expansive list of beer bottle options, head over to either one of the three Riverside Market locations. One is south near the port and airport, another is closer to downtown, and the newest location is in Plantation. Both have hundreds of beers to choose from, plus a café that serves everything from fresh salads to subs and pizza.

For those looking for more of a gastropub atmosphere, Tap 42 Bar & Kitchen has 42 draft beers including popular craft favorites paired with delicious comfort food. If you want to feel like you’ve stepped onto a movie set, check out this Fort Lauderdale brewery: Tarpon River Brewing. We won’t spoil the set surprise, but this gastropub has plenty of craft beers, and serves a tasty Sunday brunch. For something a bit more active, head over to Chops + Hops Axe Throwing Lodge where you can throw axes (in a safe, regulated environment) while enjoying a pint or two.

Coffee Shops

If you’re searching for coffee in Greater Fort Lauderdale, then you will be quite pleased with our selection.

Stepping into Brew Urban Café, you feel like you’ve been transported into a whimsical land of books. Located inside FATVillage, this local hangout and Insta-famous shop serves up delectable coffee with sweet pastries. Nearby, Wells Coffee Co. carries some of the most popular coffee in town with a wide assortment of selections from creamy and sweet to rich and smooth. For a powerful start to your day, check out Colada Cuban Café. The Cuban coffee will definitely wake you up and the fresh Cuban dishes on the menu will keep you coming back for more.

Sports Bars

When searching for a lively spot to catch the big game, these Greater Fort Lauderdale sports bars will have you cheering.

Himmarshee Public House is a trendy bar that has great drink specials and a diverse food menu in case you get hungry after a couple of cocktails. Nearby, Township, another sports bar in Fort Lauderdale, has a more collegiate atmosphere for those thrilling college games and features 72 beer taps. It also offers fun themed evenings like dueling pianos and dirty bingo.

If you want to root for your team in an oceanside setting, visit  McSorley’s Beach Pub. The iconic Fort Lauderdale beach establishment has a laid-back vibe with fun arcade games and buckets of beer. Over in Dania Beach, the Quarterdeck Dania Beach Pier offers beautiful oceanfront views that perfectly complement your beer of choice.

Wine Bars

Sometimes a long week calls for a delicious glass of wine, and that’s exactly what Greater Fort Lauderdale’s wine bars have in store for you.

33rd Street Wine Bar is a local favorite thanks to its wide selection of wines and the fun wine tasting classes it hosts. For another wine tasting option in Fort Lauderdale, try Vinos Las Olas. The relaxing patio and quaint bar welcomes you, while the variety of wines by the glass and tasty charcuterie platters keep you entertained.

If you’re looking for something a little more trendy, head over to Sparrow, The Dalmar hotel’s rooftop bar. It has a fun wine menu and serves some of the best cocktails in Fort Lauderdale. It’s also a great addition to Fort Lauderdale’s rooftop bar scene.
