In this double-bill creole celebration, Buckwheat Zydeco and The Dirty Dozen Brass Band douse Fort Lauderdale in the musical flavors of NOLA. If you don’t know Buckwheat, you don’t know zydeco. Those of you who know Buckwheat, know this man delivers the sounds of the Bayou to your ears. No matter what time of year, no matter what time of day, when Buckwheat starts to play, it’s party time, Mardi-Gras style! Joining the party, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band—the world famous New Orleans institution, whose name is synonymous with genre-bending romps and high-octane performances—brings its brass band to Parker Playhouse for a rollicking good time. Called “a national treasure steeped in both the past and the present” by The New York Times, The Dirty Dozen has been featured on albums by artists such as David Bowie, Elvis Costello, Dave Matthews Band and the Black Crowes.
