After a successful world premiere of the ballet Cinderella in celebration of Sergei Prokofiev’s 125th anniversary in Houston, TX it is with great excitement that Open World Dance Foundation is now bringing this beautiful creation back home to Florida!
In support of our mission, Devon Teuscher and Cory Stearns -- guest artists and Principal Dancers from American Ballet Theatre -- will be performing as our Cinderella and Prince in this production. They will be sharing the stage with children from the Boy’s & Girls Club, as well as local youth of different cultural and ethnic backgrounds, supporting our foundation motto “United by Dance”.
This production of Cinderella, was inspired by Orphans of St. Petersburg, Russia who sketched on paper what they thought this fairytale should look like onstage. A drawing by an eleven year old girl of Cinderella’s house dress was chosen as an inspiration for the costume design that will be worn by Devon Teuscher on stage. Another young gifted orphan sketched her own ideas of all scenes of the ballet and it became backdrops for the show and gave life to the stage design. With the imagination and creation of these talented kids, these drawings are now the inspiration that will come to life for the Open World Dance Foundation's production of Cinderella.
