Want to learn more about the beautiful South Florida environment? Looking to reduce your carbon footprint? Take a moment to slow down, sit back and reconnect with the water with the Blue Discovery EcoTour. Local marine biologist and photographer Paola Espitia will guide you on a narrated two-hour journey on Fort Lauderdale’s New River and Intracoastal Waterway.
During this guided eco tour you will learn about and experience the positive psychological effects we gain from being out on the water! In addition, this tour will seek to expand your knowledge base about the following:
Sea level rise
Our coral reefs
Our local ecosystem and more!
The tour will launch from the Riverwalk at Riverfront Plaza (300 SW 1st Avenue, Fort Lauderdale FL 33301), in front of Briny’s Irish Pub, at 10:30 a.m., then head south and continue down the Intracoastal Waterway. The boat will travel under the 17th Street Causeway before passing the ocean access of Port Everglades. It will then cruise by the Nova Southeastern University Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography, the Port Everglades seaport and mangrove forests that make up the edges of Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park in Dania Beach. The boat will then head back to Briny’s Irish Pub.
The Blue Discovery Eco Tour is $35 per person and begins at 10:30 a.m. on the fourth Saturday of the month starting Saturday, March 25, 2017. Alcoholic beverages are allowed on-board in reusable containers only; no glass permitted.
