By Christie Galeano-DeMott
Love is definitely in the air thanks to all the romantic things to do in Greater Fort Lauderdale. The hardest part will be deciding which restaurant to visit or which activity to do in celebration of the most romantic day of the year. So grab your sweetheart or a group of your favorite friends and check out one of the area’s many lovely dining options, outdoor venues, or Valentine’s Day inspired events.
Couples looking for an amorous and appetizing night out have a plethora of romantic restaurants in Greater Fort Lauderdale to choose from. Southern Italian restaurant Talento is offering a three-course prix fixe menu paired with a complimentary glass of bubbles. If you’re looking for a show-stopping night, head over to Mai-Kai for a Polynesian show and three-course dinner. For those searching for a unique dinner outdoors, check out Whiskey Creek Hideout’s Dinner and a Movie. Located inside Mizell-Johnson State Park in Dania Beach, this waterfront eatery will serve a four-course menu alongside the movie “Dirty Dancing.”
For stunning seaside views, check out DUNE at Auberge, which has created a “Love at First Bite” menu featuring a selection of delicious dishes made for two including a porterhouse with truffle jus, whole Maine lobster or a combination surf and turf. A few miles south along the water, Lona is offering a four-course Mexican tasting menu.
Whether you want to spend Valentine’s Day outdoors, want to be more active, or just want to relax, Greater Fort Lauderdale has plenty of activities for couples. Drift through Fort Lauderdale’s canals under a starry sky during the Sweetheart Paddle hosted by Blue Moon Outdoor Adventures. At the end of the tour, your guide will treat the group to a toast and sweets at a nearby park. For a less active, yet still outdoorsy evening, check out the Friday Night Sound Waves free music concert on Fort Lauderdale beach. The monthly series will feature the Reaxtion band and a romantic vow renewal ceremony.
If you and your partner want to pump up the adrenaline, visit Xtreme Action Park and take advantage of the Sweetheart Specials for skating, racing, laser tag, or the ropes course. Those searching for the opposite of extreme—a pampered and serene evening—should reserve a couples spa day at Vivire Wellness. The session starts with a private sauna session, followed by a 60-minute aromatherapy massage, and is topped off with champagne and strawberries as the finale. For that extra special date night, couples can take part in a dreamy cooking class with Chef Vicky at the Pro Kitchen Hub in Sunrise, or a fun chocolate and beer tasting at Gulf Stream Brewing Company.
