COVID-19 Travel Information 

Greater Fort Lauderdale welcomes visitors while taking necessary precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Pledge sealVisit Lauderdale's highest priority is the safety and well-being of visitors and residents. Locations throughout Greater Fort Lauderdale (Broward County) and its 31 cities are ensuring Safe + Clean experiences. Everyone is asked to keep a mask with them at all times and wear when social distancing can’t be maintained or when required. Mask wearing policies vary inside local businesses but are required on public transportation, at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Port Everglades. Consistent with CDC guidelines, effective Friday, July 30, facial coverings and social distancing are required while indoors on Broward County government property, regardless of vaccination status.

COVID-19 testing is available by appointment for travelers with scheduled flights at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Tests at the airport require a fee. Find details here. Find information on other testing sites throughout Greater Fort Lauderdale here. 

In response to the latest rise in COVID-19 cases including the Delta Variant, tests are available at a variety of drive-through and walk-up testing sites for anyone of any age, including non-residents. 

Vaccination sites are open to all Broward County residents 12 years of age and older (for Pfizer vaccine) and 18 years of age and older (for Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccine).​ Find more information on vaccinations here.

Many restaurants and bars in Greater Fort Lauderdale offer outdoor seating. Each business may decide whether to customers are required to wear a mask when entering restaurants or when waiting in line or walking to registers, pickup counters or restrooms.

Open Shopping Areas

  • Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) is open. Check with airlines for flight information. 
    • Valet parking service at the airport is temporarily suspended.
    • FLLy Safer, FLLy Smarter, FLLy Better campaign implements CDC best practices to provide a safe and clean experience from
      check-in to departure and at the auto rental center. 
  • Port Everglades The CDC has lifted the no-sail order for cruise lines pending safety agreements with each line. 
    • ​Individual cruise lines will announce dates as they confirm sailings from Fort Lauderdale.
    • Balearia Caribbean - Ferry service to the Bahamas has resumed to Bimini and Grand Bahama Island. 
  • Brightline train service is currently suspended. 
  • Broward County Transit provides economical service throughout the Greater Fort Lauderdale area including the airport. 
  • Fort Lauderdale Community Shuttle provides free and convenient transportation to Fort Lauderdale Beach, Las Olas Boulevard and downtown.
  • Tri-Rail train service provides service from Miami through Greater Fort Lauderdale and to West Palm Beach.
