Claudia Castillo was born in Colombia and educated in the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota. She sought additional arts studies in the Finishing School, NY; Frank Monaco Gallery, the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, and the National University of Colombia. Throughout Ms. Castillo’s life she appreciated the great masters and underwent a personal journey to study their work with color and reading numerous books on the subject. Claudia’s art is a process of transformation that starts with an inspired idea from the emotion evoked from nature, earth and water. The outcome is instinctive and spontaneous: simply colors and forms. Claudia draws upon emotions to create her own sense of realism which is a transformative abstraction reflecting her unique reality of continual change.
In 2009, Claudia began exhibiting at the first Wilton Manors Island City Art Walk and has participated each year. She fell in love with the Wilton Manors community. In June of 2017, Claudia opened the Claudia Castillo ART studio at 2215 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors, Florida 33305. The studio is her life-long dream especially to be in the community that appreciates her work and provided such great opportunity. Claudia’s goal is that the studio becomes a place for the community to enjoy not only her art but where emerging artists can exhibit and grow in this profession.
