When Davie School opened in 1918, it served as the area’s source of education as well as a center for community gatherings. Today, it serves as a museum of local history and culture, and continues in its role as the “Crown Jewel of Davie.” This non-profit organization was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988 and is comprised of the oldest existing school building in Broward County, 2 original homes built in 1912, a replica of a 1909 early settler’s shack, and an authentic Chickee Hut built by Seminole Tate Oceola.
