Yellow is the new pink with Greater Fort Lauderdale's golden sunshine being spread across the globe as part of an LGBT marketing campaign.

From New York to LA and Berlin to Buenos Aires, the message is out, loud and proud: Greater Fort Lauderdale is open and welcoming for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender travel, events, meetings, business and conferences.

The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau LGBT managing director, Richard Gray, leads the sales and marketing push establishing a number of LGBT firsts for the destination, including two of the world's largest gay cruises departing from Port Everglades in February. As part of the Hello Sunny campaign, Gray has increased LGBT presence internationally in the United Kingdom, Germany, Argentina and Brazil.

As part of the campaign, Greater Fort Lauderdale will bring its rainbow rays of sunshine to:

• New York City's Gay Pride March (June 30)
• Buenos Aires G360 Network International Conference on Business & LGBT Tourism, (July 3-5)
• Provincetown Bear Weekend (July 10-14)
• Gay Days Las Vegas (September 5-7)
• World Travel Market, London UK (November 4-7)

These initiatives build on Greater Fort Lauderdale's presence at the world's largest travel trade show, ITB Berlin in March, in partnership with the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA).

"We're already seeing growth from these efforts with approximately 1.2 million LGBT travelers, spending $1.4 billion in 2012," said Richard Gray, managing director for the LGBT Market at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Fort Lauderdale is Florida's largest and most popular diverse gay capital, with the largest resident lesbian and gay community and the most gay owned and operated businesses in the state.

Additional promotional activities include extensive international and domestic trade show participation and partnerships with gay organizations to increase travel trade awareness.
