Grandmother, and President of the Greater Fort Lauderdale CVB' Special Event
NEW YORK, NY - Feb. 24, 2015 - The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau (GFL CVB) won 2014 Gold and two Silver Adrian Awards presented by HSMAI - Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International. The awards were presented at the Adrian Awards Gala in New York last night in recognition of the destination's showcase of innovative public relations and special events marketing. The awards were presented to Greater Fort Lauderdale President & CEO, Nicki E. Grossman and the CVB's long time public relations agency, M. Silver/A Division of Finn Partners.
The GFL CVB took home a Gold Adrian in the "Consumer Marketing Campaign" category for its The Beach Looks Good on You marketing campaign, which also nabbed a Silver award in the "Special Event" category. The Beach Looks Good on You consumer promotion was executed last winter and featured New York City's first-ever heated bus shelter which offered commuters refuge from the cold for a month during the polar vortex.
The promotion was also executed in the destination's #1 Midwest feeder market, Chicago, and both campaigns transformed high commuter traffic areas, including Grand Central Terminal's Vanderbilt Hall in New York and Chicago's Michigan Avenue, into tropical paradises with live music, palm trees, beach cabanas, a beach-cam screen streaming live images of Fort Lauderdale's beaches, giant sunglasses for photo ops, solar-powered charging stations for mobile devices and trip giveaways.
"This has been another amazing year for our marketing and special events efforts which play a major role in getting our brand out to our important visitor markets in lasting and rewarding ways," said Nicki E. Grossman, president & CEO, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The Greater Fort Lauderdale CVB also received a Silver "Special Event" Adrian for its Meet the Mother, Grandmother, and President of the Greater Fort Lauderdale CVB media cultivation event to introduce family, lifestyle and travel media to Grossman and the destination's family-oriented attractions and hotels. The event was held at New York City's popular Dylan's Candy Bar and attendees were encouraged to bring along kids, nieces, nephews and grandkids to participate in beach-themed crafts while Nicki and her own grandkids shared their tips on top sights, attractions and favorite activities to do when visiting "Nana" in Greater Fort Lauderdale.
The Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International have presented marketing and public relations awards since 1957. The Adrian Awards competition comprises multiple categories that recognize the outstanding marketing campaigns that influence American consumers and best support the business goals of global tourism destinations and hospitality entities. This year's contest attracted nearly 1,200 entries from around the world, with entries judged by top executives from all sectors of the industry. With more than 30 countries participating in the competition, HSMAI's Adrian Awards are considered the most prestigious in the hospitality industry.
